Valentines Day is a hackneyed festive blend of vague Christian roots and cheap flocked velvet heart boxes, thus it’s my favorite. I could not wait to build a dreamy vintage Valentine themed set for this photoshoot for our first big shoot of 2019!!!!
We ended up with over 160 finished photos from this day so to spare you the scrolling I’m going to break it into a couple of posts. Today I’m going to highlight the inspiration behind the set design and themes in the shoot.
The environment I built for this shoot was inspired by all the tacky elements of Valentines Day. Red hearts, paper doilies, lace lingerie, clouds of frothy white petticoats, etc. Filled with colored light for an added neon-effect.
Models Em, CheshireCat, Angel, and Cindy M. Yu helped bring this concept to life, playing and lounging in the over the top set design.
I wanted the finished photos to have a dreamlike grunge atmosphere, all texture and color. The models all wore our Nurse dresses which worked beautifully against the lush background.
I’ll post another swath of photos from this series later this week!
Here’s the flickr link if you’d like to see the entire album.
Heaps of gratitude to our group of models, this was the perfect way to begin a new year of photoshoots and just such a fun afternoon!
