Recently I encountered a very large praying mantis in a windowsill! I couldn’t get over how beautiful it was, with it’s strange movements and patterned exoskeleton. It’s only the second time I have ever seen one in the “wild”! I never think of Canada as a land of large insects,  but this bug was big, maybe 3 inches long.

I really like creepy crawly things, I was the kid who brought home caterpillars and snails as “pets” (much to my mother’s dismay).
