Every day we get emails from excited people wanting to pose for our catalogue photos! It’s true, we do have an awful lot of fun at our shoots. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions regarding modelling for Gloomth! 🙂
How do you choose your models?
The best answer is more often than not our models chose us! The majority of models in our current roster were once local customers or fans who wrote to us or dropped by at one of our live events- or are the friends of those people. Some we found through casting calls we occasionally post on Model Mayhem.
BEHIND THE SCENES AT A GLOOMTH PHOTOSHOOT!
Do you have specific height/size/weight/age requirements for models?
Goodness no! We would love to show people of all types but for some weird reason we don’t get very many applicants who stray from the slim-pale-girl vibe. We don’t have anything against slim-pale-girls but we’d love to show more variety. Why don’t more curvy girls want to model? Why is that? As for the height question, the only time we need specifically taller models is when we do a runway show. Our catalogue models range anywhere from a petite 5’0 to a lanky 5’10. As for age, again- we’ve had models of quite a variety of ages during our existence but would love more variety in that also! Bring your walker, we’ll bedazzle the **** out of it!
Do you have to be gothic or alternative?
Well, no… but 90% of the time we’d rather work with someone who understands the Gloomth aesthetic and has an alternative look on a daily basis. We’re not really into “dressing you up” as a goth- they have costume stores for that.
Do you have to be local to Toronto/GTA?
Yes. We don’t work with remote models unless we seek them out specifically because frankly we’ve had a lot of bad experiences with that. We also shoot all of our own photos and would clearly need you here for that. No, we’re not going to pay for your plane ticket, heh.
I’m not local, but I love to model and if I took some pro photos of me in my Gloomth gear would you use them in your catalogue?
It would depend on the photos. We have a Customer Gallery for casual/fun outfit photos, but if you take some professional and interesting photos wearing our stuff I would be happy to discuss using them in our catalogue.
Do you ever need makeup artists or help with hair styling for your shoots?
Yes! Taeden (me) tends to do most of that for our shoots but she is always eager to hand that off to someone more talented/skilled. If you’re local and a creative m.u.a. or hair stylist don’t hesitate to write to us.
That pretty much covers the majority of questions we most often get regarding modelling for Gloomth. We’re always on the look out for new male and female models that suit our style and are enthusiastic. The best way to apply is to track us down on MM or email me directly.
