About our Candy Dream Prom Party!

The concept behind our newest photoshoot- the Candy Dream Prom Party– was to create a set evocative of a teenage Gloomth girl’s prom daydream! Inside of her head is a sugary, over the top, magical world reminiscent of messy bedrooms, vintage prom, and fancy parties- all with a little twist of strangeness!

Fine Lines, CheshireCat, and Nymeria frolicked in this amazing world. Playing dress-up in their favourite pieces and spending and afternoon indulging in delicious cupcakes and goodies.

We incorporated almost my entire vintage negligee, peignoirs, and housecoat collection. Which, when amassed in one pile, made me feel a bit like a crazy hoarder woman (which I am, obviously). As well as lovely green Astroturf, balloons, streamers, toys, a white fake tree, and lots and lots of other details.

The backdrop you see in the shoot was supposed to mimic the sort of doodling our teen Gloomth girl would do on her notebook cover. It took me about four hours and 8 cheap markers to create the backdrop, it was a lot of work for one prop piece but it sure looks good in the photos. No counting how many brain cells were lost to marker fumes….

Amazing (and delicious) cupcakes, cake, macarons, marshmallows, and edible pearls provided by Cakes Cove (www.cakescove.com)

This shoot was also populated by fake candy accented accessories and real cupcakes/cake/marshmallows/macarons/pearls created by our incredible model and friend Nymeria (www.cakescove.com)! She will be launching her own website soon so if you’re in the market for delicious things mailed right to your door or custom cakes you might want to bookmark that. 😉

That’s my hand!

The makeup was intended to be reminiscent of melting icing or candy! You can also see the hair chalk I wrote about previously in use in this shoot on Fine Lines and CheshireCat, the chalks turned their hair into a candy rainbow.

This shoot is so amazing! I love the Juliet dress already! Though personally, I’m really biased to all the print dresses you create. They are always so amazing!!
Is there a back story on the purple squid plushie?
And I thought those vintage slips looked remarkably familiar… 😉

Thank you! I’m so thrilled you like it!!!!

I bought the squid on etsy a few years ago. It’s actually a hat (ties under the chin with the tentacles). I have yet to figure out how to coordinate it into an outfit but it matched the colors for the shoot very nicely so it got thrown in as we were building the set.
I’ll take a photo of it worn maybe this week for the Friday thing. 🙂
