Some people think Valentine’s is silly, a forced expression of love on a manufactured holiday. An excuse to sell sappy cards and waxy candies (not to mention the dreaded itchy lace lingerie). We here at the ‘Cult think it’s the perfect time to express all sorts of “romantic” emotions- as not every feeling that springs from the pursuit or experience of love is positive!
Here are some Gloomth outfit ideas inspired by a few of the romantic emotions not commonly associated with Valentine’s:
1. Passion: When we think passion we think impulsive rich red! Our “Sorrow” dress is poorly named for this concept but in cranberry red it’s the perfect piece to embody the idea of passion! The color is flattering on a variety of skin tones and easily coordinated with black or metallic accessories. Pair it with sparkling jewellery, lace patterned stockings, and devilish heels for a passion-inducing appearance!
2. Jealousy: A darker emotion sometimes found in romantic endeavours, jealousy is a criminal, a devious negative force. Traditionally portrayed as green (as in “green with envy”) the luscious Paris green fabric of our “Verdant” dress makes an ideal hue for this portrayal! The dress itself is slinky and sweet, concealing the unpleasant nature of this ugly emotion. Pair it with black otk stockings, a velvet collar (to show the control jealousy exhibits over it’s victims), and platform dolly shoes.
3. A Broken Heart: A sorrowful pitfall of some romantic experiences. Best to not dwell on the past and on what was lost, but look to repair and reconstruct. The perfect outfit for this romantic notion is our “Medic” dress! Patch that broken heart in style! Pair it with red tights, red eyeshadow, and two-tone Oxford style shoes!
(We’ll be hosting something special on Valentine’s Day itself here in the Gloomthzine, so do come back tomorrow to see what we are up to!)
