Is there any adage more depressing than “you have to fit in to get in”? Nothing sucks the inspiration wind from my sails faster than that statement. I’m a firm believer of doing something solely because you love it and allowing the Universe to catch up, but sometimes one’s credit cards and rent need to be paid in the meantime. Thus comes the Office Job or Day Job, and all the wardrobe limitations implied by such.

The great thing about alternative fashion is that it is very versatile. It’s totally possible to maintain your creativity while working a day gig. You just have to be clever!

Gloomth hasn’t forgotten that our fans/friends have jobs outside of clubs and events, that you can’t always wear a petticoat to the office. We have some options for those of us who have to work as well as play, while still maintaining your sense of identity and fashion!

Our “Incendiary” dress is the perfect example of Gothy meets Classic! The little black go-to dress that’s work and play appropriate. Going straight from work to the bar is simple, just bring some pieces in a bag with you to the office. :)!

For Day: Pair it with solid black tights and low heels, a cardigan or a small structured blazer to cover your arms. Keep the jewelry simple, silver looks great with this dress and I like a cuff bracelet or dangling pendant.

For Night: After work slip into the bathroom and switch your tights for fishnets or lace ones and put on your big boots. Ditch the jacket and load up with spiked jewelry or lacy arm warmers. Throw some product into your hair and some extra eyeliner on and you are Goth-to-go! 😉
