I edit and alter a LOT of apparel for myself. It’s something I have always done. It also helps that in my home office my craft desk is directly behind my computer desk, so I half watch a lot of movies on netflix while making stuff. My wardrobe is an art piece of sorts, something that is constantly changing and evolving.

I live in a big city and walk a lot so I needed a pair of sneakers to do that- but I also hate the way most flat shoes look. So I bought a pair of cheap basic sneakers and set to work customizing them for my current weirdo tattered aesthetic. BagLady Chic, as my friends call it (sigh). 😛

I started by repainting them white, then added blood red streaks and smudges. The front toes are entirely covered in tattered vintage fabrics, red crosses, googly eyes (which I am obsessed with), buttons, bows, and various tangles. All in my white-pastels-blood-red color scheme.

So that’s my most recent diy experiment. 😛 What neat things have you been making?

i just made a romper out of yellow floral bed sheets and antique brass buttons 😀 it looks terrible but its the first clothing item ive made so im proud of it. i also made my own version of a bunny backpack but made of torn up black fabric with red accents…
I still have the first dresses I sewed from scratch. One is this cheesy cotton babydoll with a big purple bat on the front (subtle- not) and the other is a black shift with these huge lace drapey sleeves (which would get in my food). :D!
Oh! The bunny backpack sounds cute!
