New Year

Here we are, a brand new set of numbers on the calendar, a new year! Gloomth is also approaching it’s fifth anniversary! It’s a little daunting to think that I have officially been at this for half a decade, it’s amazing how far we’ve come since the start. Gloomth has been my little monster and like any good child is nothing like what I imagined it would be.

I started Gloomth after much job related angst. I had been having trouble finding work that inspired me after leaving my day job to live with my boyfriend in another city. Sick of working crappy part time jobs with no future I started sewing and altering clothing and selling it on ebay- and the rest, as they say, is history.

An ancient Gloomth ad!

What Gloomth is now was supposed to be a second label entirely. We had intended to branch into a proper line under the moniker “Atramentous” but I found managing two completely different systems very exhausting and had a lot more fun with the designing/creating than I did with making the clothing myself. After some dedicated soul searching and a negative boot in the ass that provided the momentum I needed to just go for it- we did! And I haven’t looked back!

Gloomth has appeared in magazines, fashion shows, on celebrities, and all over the place! It’s been truly amazing watching this label develop. Any artist or creative person will tell you that what they build never ends up as what they initially envisioned. Art has a way of manifesting as it’s own entity despite our best intentions or efforts.

I am thrilled that we have kept this going! I am deeply thankful for our friends, fans, models, reviewers, and everyone who has helped spread the word of the ‘Cult! You have given me the best gift an artist could ever get. I look forward to 2011 and more craziness and creativity!!!

Thank you!!!!

  1. I believe can I speak for many of your devotees when I say that we’re truly thankful you kept at it. Working in the creative sector has many challenges, but also considerable rewards. Congratulations on your successes, thus far. We look forward to seeing your clothing business develop in the future.
