Shein / Romwe is notorious for ripping off independent designers and artists. Actual designers and craftspeople really can’t fight billion dollar human-suffering machines so we’re stuck complaining about it on our blogs. But please know this kind of thing is AWFUL when you’re a small artist, I work so hard to create my pieces and seeing them badly copied by huge corporations I don’t have the lawyer $ to battle effectively feels horrible. 😦

But it finally happened and fucking Shein ripped me off! That’s an ((exact)) bad copy of our “October” dress, but with hideous cheap looking buttons and weird design elements that make it 10 times worse than my original design.

I have filed a complaint through Shein’s ridiculous form but I don’t expect a single thing to come of it. They don’t seem to care that they keep doing this, the RICO case isn’t going to phase a billion dollar company- nor is my whining that they are literally stealing my rent money. I’m also in Canada where registering designs etc isn’t handled the same way as registering a trademark in America etc. Sigh.

I just want to note that supporting companies like Shein and Romwe is contributing nothing good to the world, it’s literal blood and suffering on your hands and theft from artists. But you all know better than to support these fuckers, right?

Not only is Shein under investigation for literal racketeering /RICO they have a loooooooong history of design theft. Sure, their items are cheap but who’s actually paying for that discounted price? Designers, the people physically making the garments, OUR PLANET. But who cares if you get a deal right? People you can’t see or speak to don’t matter as long as you get yours, huh? Gross.
